Chobe National Park is renowned for having one of the largest concentrations of elephants in Africa. But beyond the magnificent elephant herds, the park is also home to lions, leopards, buffaloes, and rhinos - the famous Big Five. The Chobe River frontage is particularly spectacular during the dry season when thousands of animals converge on the riverbanks to drink. Game drives along the river reveal incredible scenes of elephants bathing, crocodiles basking in the sun, and hippos wallowing in the shallows. Lions are frequently spotted in the Savuti area, where resident prides have adapted to hunting large prey including elephants and buffalo. The marsh ecosystem provides excellent leopard sightings, especially during the cooler early morning hours. Bird enthusiasts will be thrilled by the over 450 species recorded in the park, including the rare African Skimmer and Pel's Fishing Owl.
